Composer’s Assistant - Job Description

Location: London, UK

Position Type: Part-Time (16 hrs per week)

Report To: Director / Lead Composer of Thought Collective

About Thought Collective

Thought Collective, based in London, is a creative music agency dedicated to crafting soundtracks for advertising, film, and television. Previous clients include: Asahi, Adidas, American Express, Levi’s, Nike, Porsche, Puma, Soho House and Sony.

Skills Needed

We are looking for a talented individual with the following skills:

  • Music Composition: Strong foundation in composing original music for various media.

  • MIDI Programming/Sampling: Expertise in creating expressive and realistic MIDI arrangements and experience in sample editing/creation (in Kontakt a plus).

  • Audio Editing: Proficient in tools like Logic Pro, Ableton, and/or Pro Tools.

  • Orchestration & Music Theory: Ability to read and orchestrate music (a plus).

  • Video Editing Skills: Basic proficiency in video editing (a bonus).

Responsibilities

As an Assistant, you will:

  • Support the lead composer across various bespoke projects and opportunities.

  • Assist in arranging, producing, and fine-tuning compositions for media.

  • Collaborate closely with the team to ensure musical and creative alignment with project goals.

  • Explore opportunities for independent creative contributions, including developing your own artist project and contributing to a growing sync catalogue.
